TRUE LOVE: FOUR SEASONS [Chapter 2: Christmas]

The week at the cabins went without a flaw…err…I mean, there was that moment of Teddy showing up in the room naked while Cameron was at the store and we somehow got to stroking each other…but other than that minor incident, it went amazingly. We had been back home for two days now and just finished wrapping up the last of the Christmas gifts. I was just about to wrap one more when I heard something smash. Cloud darted out of the living room and up the stairs. I stood up to find another ornament shattered.

“Cloud! This is the sixth one.” I said picking up the pieces
“Did he break another one?” Cameron yelled from upstairs
“Yes.” I said frustrated
“Bad Cloud.” I heard him say flatly
“Are you almost done?” I asked
“Five more minutes.” He said

Cameron was wrapping one of my gifts. I placed the few that I finished under the tree. Our tree was against the wall of windows looking out at the ocean. I walked to the kitchen to pour myself a glass of wine as Cameron walked downstairs with gifts under each arm. He was wearing dark grey silk pajama bottoms, no shirt, barefoot. He was so fucking sexy. He knelt down to place the gifts around the tree as Cloud walked up to him, rubbing his white fur covered body against his leg. I grabbed the small ring of keys hanging near the door. As the keys jingled, Cameron looked back instantly.

“Where are you going?” he asked
“Grab the mail. I’m sure it’s piled up.” I said, since we hadn’t checked our mail box since we had gotten back from our romantic getaway.

I walked out of the front door to our apartment and down to the mailboxes. When I opened the box door, an avalanche of mail came pouring out. I cursed at the mail as I picked up all the pieces one by one. As I collected all the mail in my hands, I pressed it against my chest to prevent it from falling again and walked back up to our apartment. I walked in and tossed the mail onto the kitchen countertop, which seemed to scare the living day lights out of Cloud as he bolted upstairs and probably under the bed.

“Shit.” Cameron said walking over to review the mail with me
“Yeah.” I said hanging the keys back up

We began to sift through the pile, tossing junk mail. We got a few more Christmas cards from friends and family.

“What’s this?” I asked Cameron, however I’m sure he didn’t know either

I held up a pearl shimmered envelope with what looked to be a wax seal on it. The envelope was addressed to: Mr. Harris & Mr. Ramirez from the Depoe Bay Society of Events.

“Oh. Wow.” Cameron said holding it up in disbelief
“What is it?” I asked again
“It’s for Depoe Bay’s Annual Winter Ball.” He said
“There’s an annual ball here?”
“Yeah, usually for the really wealthy and friends of those who are wealthy. A bunch of socialites hold the event at Saint Lucius Manor.” He explained
“Wow.” I said, “Should we open it?”
“Yes!” he said with excitement

“What the fuck?” I said in shock
“I know.” Cameron said in disappointment
“They can’t do that!”
“Babe. They can. It’s their private event.” He said
“Well we aren’t going.” I put my foot down
“Yeah. We shouldn’t go.” He said with a sour face

Cameron walked to the living room and plopped himself down on the couch. Great, now I felt guilty.

“Babe…” I said walking over to the couch

He bent his legs, giving me room to sit down next to him.

“We’ll go.” I said reluctantly, “I know you want to.”
“It’s okay.” He said sitting up
“No, you want to go. We just won’t be able to dance together.” I said
“I know that sucks, but we should be able to experience it.” He said
“Okay. But I don’t even know how to foxtrot or do the waltz they mentioned.” I admitted
“It’s okay. I’ll teach you.” He smiled
“What? How is it that you know how to dance these dances?” I asked curiously
“My mom put me and Natalie in ballroom dance classes growing up. It’s funny, I never thought they would come in handy.” He laughed
“Why didn’t I know about this?” I asked
“It was a long time ago.”
“Do you even remember how to dance them?” I asked
“Oh yeah, it’s like riding a bike, once you learn, you never forget.” He said
“Well show me.” I said

He stood me up and began to structure my body frame. He explained where my hands would be since most likely, I would be leading whoever I would dance with…some chick. The first dance we learned was the foxtrot which was kind of easy for me, but was tiring. The second dance was the Dance of the King, a waltz. That was difficult. It had to be timed perfectly. The dance itself was more of a walking around in a circle, doing a curtsy or bow type motion, then midway through, we would link up and hold our frame together and begin the traditional waltz.

Christmas had arrived and we were excited to spend time with our families. First thing in the morning, we opened our gifts under the tree. Cameron had gotten me a new phone, a leather jacket I had been eyeing, shoes and a ton of shirts and jeans. I had gotten Cameron a Rolex watch, pants and an mp3 player. We collected the gifts for our families and headed to their place to finish off Christmas day with them. We came to find out that Diane was now a member of the Depoe Bay Society of Events, she had requested we were invited to the ball. Natalie, Phillip, Larissa, Teddy, Jasmine, my parents were invited. I of course asked Diane, why there was a restriction on dancing male/female only? She said that she had tried to have that rule vetoed but she was overruled. The society is made up of many older people who believed in traditional dancing which is why the themes of the balls were always during historical eras. I didn’t agree, as neither did she, but there was nothing I could do about it.

After opening gifts at Diane’s, my parents, Larissa and Teddy came over as Natalie and Cameron were going to teach us how to dance. We spent hours learning the dances and watching the brother and sister dominate the dances like pros. It was fun getting to learn the dances together. Teddy mentioned that he and Marco had split up, so he asked Larissa to be his date. Larissa agreed since she wouldn’t be able to dance with another female anyways. Jasmine had planned to go alone, stating that she was hoping to find herself a handsome bachelor at the ball.

We spent weeks learning the dances until they were almost perfected. I still kept messing up on the waltz. It was frustrating, but I was just going to do the best I could. We celebrated New Year’s Eve at my parents’ house and even had another dance class after midnight. The following week we had gone to a fitting for our formal ware and wow, was it strange to be suited up in an 18th century style costume. Cameron was snapping phots of me on his phone as I got fitted. He kept saying how sexy I looked, how my ass was fantastic in the tight snug pants I had to wear. We finally were set for the ball with our clothes, the limo and dancing feet.
